Design Process

Claire Golan & Associates offers consultation which may require only a portion of the detailed time line listed below!

Before beginning work, we will discuss your vision and your view of the scope of the project. 

We will work with your architect, contractor and vendors or we can create a “team” for you.  In approximate order, this is how your project will unfold:

Step 1:  Review Architectural Documents or measure and draw plans of your space.

Step 2:  Prepare a preliminary Furniture Plan to review lighting and electrical locations, possibly change window sizes or locations, doorway openings.  This will start us toward the completion of your space.

Step 3:  Make selections of plumbing fixtures, flooring materials, window frame finishes, doors, fireplace materials.  We will also design and select materials and colors for kitchens, baths, bars with chosen suppliers and begin work on custom cabinetry and make choices for wall finishes.

Step 4:  Choose and hire additional vendors to supply and install selected materials.

Step 5:  Finalize Furniture Plan and approve lighting plan, including the fixture selections. 

Step 6:  Order cabinetry and other permanently installed items such as stone and tile, counter tops, carpeting, window coverings, wallcoverings.  Choose paint colors for your rooms and design closet layouts.  Purchase furniture per plan including custom designed pieces selected.

Step 7:  Install decorative back splash in kitchen.  Select and purchase area rugs, accent furnishings and accessories such as decorative mirrors, accent lamps.  Choose and buy bedding.

Step 8:  As furniture arrives, order pillows, select decorative accessories and art.
